The Waterfront Square is one of the liveliest locations in Tiny Bookshop, where sailors gather and tales of the sea echo through the docks.
You can complete several challenges at this location by making friends with Walt the Sailor, decorating with nautical items, and even taking in a stray dog.
Each step makes your relationship with the community stronger and opens up new ways to tell the story of your shop.

Ahoy Matey
Your first task at the Waterfront is to introduce yourself to Walt the Sailor. You will usually find him sitting by the stairs, watching over the busy waterside.
Once you speak with him, your journal will record the encounter as a completed challenge. This initial meeting sets the foundation for several other tasks tied to Walt and the sailors who frequent the square.
Show Off Your Catch
After completing your introduction, you will unlock the next challenge. Here, the goal is to sell twenty books to the local sailors.
This requires stocking genres that appeal to them and ensuring you have enough supply on your shelves.
When you succeed, the game acknowledges your growing reputation, and even Walt himself may express admiration for your efforts.
Ship Happens

Once you have earned the sailors' trust through book sales, Walt will invite you to take on the Ship Happens challenge. Your bookshop needs a nautical touch to gain full acceptance in the fish market.
To achieve this, you must equip three maritime decorations in your shop. Walt provides you with an item to help you begin, but you will need to return with your decorations equipped to prove yourself.
It is worth noting that you can still visit the fish market without completing this challenge, but Walt will not sell you anything until your bookshop looks seaworthy.
Once the decorations are in place, the sailors decide that your Ship is safe enough not to sink—at least for now.
Feed the Stray

During your time at the Waterfront, you may notice a stray dog appearing on the right side of the area on Summer 2nd, provided you have already spoken with Walt. The poor creature is hungry and needs something to eat.
By talking to Walt at the fish market (which is open on Wednesdays after you finish Ship Happens, except when a cruise ship is docked), you can purchase a raw fish for twelve coins.
Returning to the stray with the fish gives you the option to feed him, and his reaction makes it clear that you have earned his trust.
This small act of kindness sets in motion a touching side story that further connects you to the community.
Adopt the Stray

The final challenge tied to the dog allows you to adopt him officially. At the end of the day, when you feed him, the stray approaches your shop and presents you with the option to bring him into your family.
You can give him a name, and from that moment on, he becomes a permanent companion in your journey.
Adopting a stray not only enriches your personal experience but also symbolizes the bonds you form with the townsfolk and their surroundings. In many ways, it is one of the most heartfelt rewards of the Waterfront storyline.
