Here's a guide on how to survive the Bridge Gate Battle in Tomb Raider.

This part starts with a big fight as you try to reach a locked gate under a bridge. You'll face several waves of enemies, including snipers and shielded opponents, so keep moving and pay attention to your surroundings.

The Initial Firefight

When you take control, you'll be in the middle of a big fight. The Bow with Fire Arrows works well here because burning enemies causes a lot of damage and slows them down.

Watch your surroundings and look for explosive barrels—shoot them when enemies are close to take out groups quickly. Focus on taking out snipers on higher platforms first.

Keep moving and switch cover often, especially if Molotov Cocktails are thrown nearby. Stay alert, as many enemies will try to get close and flank you.

Use your guns to keep them back, and only use melee if you have no other choice. Keep fighting until all the guards in this area are defeated. Toward the Gate

After you clear the area, move toward the south gate. The ground is blocked by fences and debris, so use the rooftops to get across.

If you want, you can explore the eastern side for salvage and maybe find an optional tomb, but you'll run into two more groups of guards there.

As you get close to the gate, a cutscene will start, and another wave of enemies will appear.

The Second Battle at the Gate

This fight is similar to the last one. Enemies will come at you from different directions, so try to keep your distance. The Bow with Fire Arrows is still a good choice, but any weapon will work.

Shoot explosive barrels when enemies go near them. Watch out for enemies trying to flank you, and move between cover to avoid gunfire and Molotov Cocktails.

In this wave, at least two enemies have Riot Shields. Let them get close, dodge their attack, and then shoot them when they're open—the Shotgun works well for taking them down quickly.

Opening the Gate

Once you've beaten all the enemies, search their bodies for supplies. Go back to the gate. Use your Bow to shoot a Fire Arrow at the canvas marked on the gate to burn it off.

Then, go to the left gate mechanism and use your Climbing Axe by pressing the action button. This will open up the southern part of the town and set up the Ancient Gate base camp, giving you 100 XP.
