In Valkyrie Elysium, staying alive is just as important as how much damage you do. You can use defensive Runes to lower the damage you take from enemies.

These items are great for tougher fights where you find yourself losing health too fast. Just like other enhancements, you can find these in hidden chests or by finishing specific tasks for people you meet in VALKYRIE ELYSIUM.

Reducing Physical Damage

If you want to take less damage from swords and other physical hits, you should look for the Physical Damage Reduction set. You can find Physical Damage Reduction I inside a chest in Chapter 3 by crossing a drawbridge that goes north.

For the second level, Physical Damage Reduction II, look for some wooden stairs out in the open along the main path in Chapter 6. The final and strongest one, Physical Damage Reduction III, is your reward for finishing the mission called Midgardian Studies 1 in VALKYRIE ELYSIUM.

Lowering Magic Damage

Some enemies use spells that can be hard to dodge, so having magic protection is very helpful. To get Magic Damage Reduction I, you must complete the side task titled My Hometown. If you need Magic Damage Reduction II, you should finish the quest called The Unfinished Masterpiece.

For the best protection against spells, you can earn Magic Damage Reduction III by winning the Training Duel with Eygon. Equipping these will help you survive the magical attacks you face later in VALKYRIE ELYSIUM.
