What I Want From the Next Assassin's Creed Game
News by Grayshadow on May 12, 2015
Ubisoft is ready to reveal the next Assassin’s Creed game and people are already speculating, and hoping, the next game will deliver where Assassin's Creed: Unity and Rogue failed to. With nothing more than a few images detailing a new protagonist and a brass knuckle inscribed with the phrase “Strength and Loyalty” fans have started assuming the game’s next location to be Victorian London or during the Civil War. Names have been flooding the internet claiming that the title of this installment in Ubisoft’s popular franchise to be either Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate” or “Victory”. While all these questions will be answered when Ubisoft final reveals the next game what we should be debating isn’t when Assassin’s Creed will be set but what will the game be like.
The last two Assassin’s Creed games fell short of what was expected of the franchise. Rogue, while a novel idea, never manifested into anything noteworthy. Most fans found playing the Templar Agent Shay Cormac as dull and uninspiring, feeling more like an expansion of the more popular Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag. Unity, despite its graphical issues and bug riddled gameplay, failed to incite any feelings of excitement or wonder. Instead those moments of delight were focused on YouTube videos highlighting the glitches that many other gamers were experiencing. Both games did little to push the franchise forward it’s fair to want to see the next Assassin’s Creed game deliver something worth investing into.
Reveal the New Main Protagonist
Since Desmond Miles sacrificed himself to save the Earth from the solar flare we’ve been patiently waiting for a new protagonist to take the mantle. After three games all we have is a mute game tester from Abstergo. While this taciturn figure has proven to be resourceful, noting his vexation about the towards each new challenge that awaited him in written journal entries, we’ve yet to see a face or hear a voice. It’s time we meet this mysterious individual.
Juno’s plan
In the last two Assassin Creed games Juno has been surprisingly absent. Appearing in Assassin’s Creed: Flag as a holographic image we’ve yet to see Juno perform as monumental feats that would consider her a threat to the world. And with the solar flares no longer a threat to Earth the franchise needs a new motivating to drive the series forward.
Another Edward Kenway
Ezio Auditore stole of the hearts of many gamers with his playful nature and charismatic attitude. It was not unlike Edward Kenway made his appearance in Black Flag that the franchise had a relatable character. Driven by his own desires Edward cared little about the Assassins or Templars, only what he could gain.
What made Kenway such an engaging character was his development. From a selfish pirate to a honorable Assassin Edward endured many hardships to become an accomplished solider in the fight against the Templars. He made mistakes but tried to correct them, bettering himself to becoming something more than another pirate.
For now these are only desires and speculations. The next Assassin’s Creed game is still a enigma for now, but hopefully Ubisoft will deliver the next-generation Assassin’s Creed game that people have been demanding. Free from glitches and a story worth investing into.
