The micro PC industry is changing as more powerful hardware is packed into increasingly compact designs. A new player is pushing the limits by using one of the best integrated GPUs available today. This promises great 1440p gaming performance in a tiny package.
First Look at the GMKtec Evo T2
The mini PC is packing Intel's most powerful iGPU to date, the ARC B390. With 12 Xe3 cores, it's capable of 1440p gaming, and it's all packed into a super small form factor from GMKtec. The all-new GMKtec Evo T2 features a design that stands out, with a gold-aluminum side panel and a plastic body. The system can be set up in either vertical or horizontal orientation, making it flexible for different setups.

Inside the box, there are a few useful accessories, including a VESA mount for attaching the unit under a desk, to a wall, or behind a monitor. There is also a 6ft HDMI cable and a compact 148.2W power supply, which is higher than the usual 90-120W range seen in similar mini PCs.
Ports, Connectivity, and Internal Design
There is a 3.5mm audio jack, a USB4 port that runs at 40Gbps, two full-size USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, and a USB 2.0 port on the front of the machine. It includes a second 3.5mm audio jack, USB4, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, an Oculink connector, two USB 2.0 ports, and twin Ethernet with 2.5Gb and 10Gb choices on the back.
Accessing the internals is straightforward, thanks to four thumb screws. Inside, there is an RGB secondary fan for cooling the M.2 storage. The system includes dual M.2 slots, one PCIe 5.0x4 and another PCIe 4.0x1. The unit comes with a 1TB drive pre-installed. Since it is based on the Panther Lake platform, the RAM is integrated into the CPU and cannot be upgraded.
Specifications and Performance Modes
The Intel Core Ultra X7 358H has 16 cores and 16 threads. It has four performance cores that can run at up to 4.8GHz, eight efficiency cores that can run at up to 3.5GHz, and four low-power efficiency cores that can run at up to 3.3GHz. The Intel ARC B390 iGPU, which features 12 XC3 cores running at up to 2500MHz, is also included.
The system has 64GB of RAM running at 8533MHz, of which 32GB is reserved for the iGPU. It has PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots for storage, as well as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 compatibility. It comes with Windows 11 Pro already installed.
From the BIOS, three power modes are available: silent mode at 35W, balanced at 45W, and performance mode at 54W with boosts up to around 60W. Performance mode is used for testing to achieve maximum output.
Benchmark Results
The single-core score in Cinebench R24 is 125, which is better than systems like the Apple M1 Max. With a multi-core score of 1230, it beats older desktop processors like the Threadripper and Ryzen 7 5800X.
GPU performance in 3DMark Time Spy reaches 7699, significantly higher than the 4420 score achieved by systems using the Radeon 890M. This highlights the strength of the ARC B390 iGPU.

1440p Gaming Performance
The system's gaming performance is what sets it apart. The average frame rate in Red Dead Redemption 2 at 1440p on medium settings with no scaling is roughly 75 fps, and it uses about 45W.
The Witcher 3 plays smoothly at 1440p extreme settings with no scaling. To keep the frame rate above 60 fps in Spider-Man 2 at 1440p on medium settings, XeSS must be enabled. When you lower the resolution to 1080p, power usage drops to about 32W, but frame rates don't increase much.
Without XeSS, Forza Horizon 5 runs at 1440p on high settings and averages over 100 fps. At 1440p high settings with XeSS quality, Cyberpunk 2077 runs at roughly 56 fps. At 1080p, it runs at about 75 fps. When XeSS frame generation is set to X4, performance at 1440p on high settings is over 130 fps.
Final Thoughts
The GMKtec Evo T2 delivers impressive performance for its size, especially with the Ultra X7 configuration. There is also a more expensive version of the Ultra X9.
The price can be high because of the RAM and storage options, and for the same price, a bigger desktop system might give you more raw power and greater AI performance. But getting this level of performance in such a small size is still a big plus.
