Recent game releases, the current state of hardware development for Steam, and attempts to improve SteamOS and Steam Deck all point to steady progress in both the hardware and software ecosystems.
Changes in the availability of parts, system software, and game compatibility show that users are getting better speed and being able to access more things.

Steam Hardware Development and Procurement
As we have observed, Valve recently received a massive shipment of Steam hardware at itsat its US headquarters. This is a positive sign of progress towards their initial half of 2026 release date. The RAM crunch situation has also been alleviated. There has been a large-scale acquisition of an AI-related RAM undertaking that did not materialize previously, and, together with more efficient AI processing, has helped alleviate supply pressure. Consequently, the prices have been on a downward trend.
Several SteamOS updates, such as 3.8 and 3.8.1, are also going into preview and beta. These releases explicitly refer to Steam Machines and include improvements to desktop mode. That kind of preparation indicates that the next hardware is near at hand, since such upgrades are more likely to be on a launch-ready schedule than on a long-term plan.
Other background releases to platforms such as Steam Frame and SteamVR further support the notion that the wider Steam hardware ecosystem is being ready in unison. One of the recent developments that substantiates this point of view is the release of new Steam controllers, which suggest that Valve is ready to launch the new products in a coordinated fashion rather than staggered launches. It seems more feasible to release all hardware at this point.
Steam Deck continues to be in demand, too, several years after its launch. Availability is also a problem that contributes to user frustration, particularly when other options involve trade-offs in areas such as battery life, display quality, or hardware reliability.
Time of Release and Point of View
We should consider earlier release times, as timing also affects the hardware experience. The delivery of new hardware towards the end of the year can be aligned with user schedules and usage patterns. When devices are on hand, the emphasis is more on waiting than usage, and the delay is reduced.
Capcom Releases and Steam Deck Performance
Since the release of Pragmata, Capcom has been picking up speed. It gets scores in the mid-80s on aggregate sites. The game presents a new IP that takes place in a space station and has AI systems and a robot friend. The game includes hacking and fighting from a third-person view.
Steam Deck performance is impressive. The game is played at approximately 40 fps with default settings when FSR1 is selected instead of FSR3 in balanced mode. When we use higher visual fidelity, the settings can be set to a steady 30 fps, with better image quality, including options such as volumetric lighting and higher levels of detail.
With Steam Cloud integration, you can transfer between devices, and you can play on Steam Deck and resume on a desktop platform. This is one of the platform's main benefits.
Other upcoming and potential releases in the lineup of Capcom are Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Onimusha Way of the Sword, and a possible sequel to Dragon’s Dogma 2. Such releases show a steady development process with different genres.
Classic Resident Evil Improvements on Steam Deck
Capcom also re-released the original Resident Evil trilogy on Steam, with improvements developed for the GOG versions. These titles can be bought cheaply and modified to meet the current systems.
First, to run these games on the Steam Deck, one needed to manually install them in desktop mode and some additional tools. As of now, Resident Evil 1 and 2 can be launched directly with Proton Experimental and no additional settings. Resident Evil 3 is yet to get the same update, but it is anticipated.
Although the third entry has its own style and presentation, the first two are generally regarded as stronger. Despite this, every title is still available, and to achieve full compatibility, they can be set up manually.

Gameplay: The Experience of Playing Greyzone Warfare
Interest in Greyzone Warfare, which provides a hybrid form, incorporating aspects of several genres, is also of interest. The game has been designed to enable long hours on a single map, access to vendors and inventory systems, and does not need continuous extraction.
Final Thoughts
We still experience progress in SteamOS, compatibility, and performance optimization. These improvements help make the experience on devices such as the Steam Deck and upcoming hardware releases more stable.
As the process goes on, getting the hardware ready and polishing the software also means making sure that the release strategy is consistent. With more game support and improvements to the ecosystem, things are still going in the same general way.
