Sony Slowing Download Speeds on PlayStation to Address Internet Stability Concerns

To manage internet traffic Sony is taking to steps to ensure a stable experience

Recently, Sony confirmed that PlayStation download speeds would be reduced in response to the growing use of the service since the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally it was only for EU territories but now its for US regions as well.

Sony stated:

UPDATE: Beginning today, we will take similar measures in the United States, and we will continue to take appropriate action to do our part to help ensure internet stability as this unprecedented situation continues to evolve. We are grateful for the role we play in helping deliver a sense of community and entertainment in these very trying times. Thank you again for your support, your patience, and for being part of the PlayStation community. Please stay home and stay safe.

This reduction in speed will only include downloading games, not online gaming.
