Borderlands 3 Kicks Off Newest DLC With Golden Key Code

Borderlands 3, the latest installment to Gearbox's popular looter shooter franchise, is releasing a new DLC for their game called "Bounty of Blood." The DLC will introduce new skills and missions for players, including a new vehicle, plants that can be used to combat enemies, and a new location full of side quests called Gehenna. According to the official Borderlands website, players of the newest DLC will be helping rid Gehenna of the Devil Riders gang, who ride genetically altered creatures. To celebrate the debut of this newest DLC for their game, Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford has released a SHIFT code to give players 5 golden keys.

For those who are unaware, there is a golden chest located on Sanctuary III, the ship that players use as their home base throughout the game. This chest is located near the cargo bay, and contains a randomized set of legendary equipment for players to use to mow down their enemies. However, if you open this chest too early in your campaign, you risk wasting a golden key on weapons that may be weaker than those already in your inventory. Most experienced Borderlands players recommend opening the chest after players are at least halfway through the main campaign, which will mean that their character, and the possible items within the chest, are higher level. 

These SHiFT codes can be found in a variety of places, as many players received a golden key code for pre-ordering the game, or purchasing a special edition. Now, Gearbox's own CEO has tweeted a code for all players of the game to use, which will be usable until Monday, June 28.

This newest SHiFT code, "CHWJ3-XKHCH-K6KXZ-XT3TT-6HB66," must be entered in the game's menu, under the "Social" tab. After filling in the appropriate boxes, click the middle option labeled "SHiFT," which will take players to the menu to enter the code. Instead of having to re-type the code, a checkmark should appear next to the code, and all players have to do is hit submit below the code to receive their keys. Once submit has been selected, players are ready to go to that golden chest aboard Sanctuary III. 

For players who are interested in playing this new cowboy-style DLC as a new Vault Hunter, you're in luck. With their newest DLC, Gearbox is also offering a level-boost for newly created Vault Hunters, allowing players to head straight to the new planet, where enemies will be appropriately scaled. Although the new western-themed DLC may seem out of character for the Borderlands franchise, the game included a similar location in Borderlands 2, though it consisted only of a sheriff and the occasional references to a western civilization. This new DLC seems to be expanding on this idea, helped by the fact that guns from Jakobs, a popular NPC in Borderlands 3, are famous for their revolvers and "fires as fast as you can pull the trigger" style of shooting. Whether you are more comfortable with a sniper rifle, a sub-machine gun or an assault rifle, jump into the newest DLC for Borderlands 3: "A Bounty of Blood."

Borderlands 3 is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia and Xbox One.
