The ESA holds a yearly survey to see who plays video games, why, and when. With this year's survey coming back with 75% of all households have at least 1 person who plays video games.

The ESA provided a detailed chart showing the breakdown of data.

The ESA notes that smartphones are the primary reason for the surge in gaming. Video games have evolved to become more accessible than other forms of entertainment. Once you had to purchase an expensive console or PC and purchase a game but now gamers can download a high-quality title for free.

The ESA also noted that gaming has actively become a more family-focused activity. With parents playing games with their kids.

Gaming has become one of the most popular and accessible forms of entertainment in the world. With video games becoming a legitimate sport and offering more career options in streaming. It's going to continue to grow but be wary as many companies and people use this medium for insidious means. Just look at the legalize gambling option targeted at kids known as loot boxes.
