Awesome Games Done Quick 2023 has officially wrapped up and it has raised over $2.6 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The charity event that takes place over one week and runs 24 hours a day is all about speedrunning. The speedrunners of the world come together to show off their stuff and compete with others and themselves to beat games as quickly as possible while also raising money for charity.

According to the Games Done Quick website, there were 150 runs on display, 263 prizes, 100 bids, and 21,529 donors who made 39,868 donations. In total, $2,645,350.41 was raised with a maximum donation of $100,000, an average donation of $66.35, and a median donation of $25. This means that while they did not raise as much as they raised last year, which was $3.4 million, the event still managed to bring in massive numbers of fans to watch, and donate and speedrunners to show off their stuff.

These events are a great way to support games and do some good in the wider world, so when the next event comes along in the Summer Games Done Quick 2023 event, which will be from 28 May to 4 June 2023, consider coming along and checking out what games are on display and which charity is set to receive the donations.

If you want to have a look at the runs from this year’s event, check out the Games Done Quick YouTube channel. One of the highlights from the show was Jhay’s breaking of the world record for Super Mario Galaxy 2, and who knows what records might be broken next time around.
