SEGA Plans To Raise Their Game Prices Soon

Hard work comes with high payment. SEGA thinks they deserve it.

One of the oldest game developers of Japan, SEGA, has been excessively active since the middle 2010’s with their continuous of game releases as well as being a reliable publisher for other companies. Recent info revealed that SEGA has been thinking about going for a price change as the regular 60 dollar price tag for the new games is now slowly fading away and getting replaced with the 70 dollars instead.

A recent QA with SEGA president Haruki Satomi and senior executive vice president Koichi Fukuzawa was translated from Japanese to English. One of the questions picked the interest of these highly-ranked officials, and that was about the price change of new games on the market. Sega is aware of the new rule of charging more money for new titles and they have been watching the prices rise for the past few years. They have stated that if 70 dollar price tags become the norm, they have to change the rules for themselves too.

Currently 70 dollar price tag games are only available for console releases but in recent months PC games also started to hit that mark too. Once Sega approves of the said price change, they will probably apply to their big hitters such as the main Sonic the Hedgehog games, roleplaying titles such as Yakuza or Lost Judgement and their published titles such as Atlus’ Persona.

It is easy to understand why companies ask for more when it comes to new releases as they require more time to be created and effort to reach its perfect condition. However, we do not surely know what will be the consumer’s take as they can still sort themselves out for sales that happen from time to time, if they find they find the new price change to be too ridiculous or unworthy.
