Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 Deemed to Be a Very Lazy Port

It is Konami and we could not expect something good from the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, it is just messing with players at this point.

Highly anticipated PC ports of Metal Gear Solid games have landed on the Steam page with extras such as the original MSX titles of the game. Although the games were being sought after on the PC platform for a very, very long time, Konami found a way to not deliver a good job while porting those titles. The legendary Hideo Kojima, the creator of the series, is no longer with Konami, but Konami owns the legal rights to the title, so it is totally up to them to do a proper of porting these games.

The trilogy of the Metal Gear Solid franchise is quite well-respected in the gaming world, but the new Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 sadly drags their recognition down, and unfortunately makes people quite miffed too. According to the reviews of these three titles, they either have mixed or negative reviews on their Steam pages. Once we take a look at the reviews, it becomes clear why they feel unfinished. Almost all of the games are running at 720p with a 30FPS cap, making it unbearable to sit through in the current year.

The meaning of current hardware is about breaking the old habits and bringing the new, but Konami did the unthinkable and ported the Xbox 360 versions to the PC and called it a day. Not only do the graphics look outdated, but the controls also suffer greatly with no mapping options and a mouse cursor trying to imitate the analog sticks. Not being able to choose from windowed to fullscreen mode is also a big frustration for people.

Taking a deep dive into the files, we see that the games are just .iso files being emulated through an emulator. So the games are basically the same versions of the console versions with no modifications. After all, it makes sense that most people are complaining about the awful texture quality and framerate issues.

Konami announced that the fixes for the games in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 are coming soon, but it does not matter at this point, people already have seen the problems behind the port, and no matter how Konami tries to fix it, people are already exposed to very cheap way to deliver well-received titles and how Konami handles the whole situation by not caring at all.
