New Sonic Game Coming in 2 Years

The last 2 major Sonic the Hedgehog games were Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania in 2017. The classic 2D game was much better received than the 3D game. With Team Sonic Racing being the most recent game in Sonic's video game history and part of the spin-off racing series. Now, SEGA has confirmed that 2021 will be the "Next Big Year" for the Blue Blur.

Speaking to Game Informer recently, Sonic Team’s head Takashi Iizuka seemed to tease a new game within the beloved franchise. Iizuka indicated that two years from now, in 2021, is when we’ll really start to see more of Sonic.

“2017 was a big year for Sonic. The next big year for Sonic is 2021,” Iizuka stated. “That’s the 30-year anniversary for Sonic. We are now preparing.” When asked if the 30th anniversary of the character will bring with it another major milestone game much like 2011’s Sonic Generations, Iizuka simply just said, “Maybe.”

2021 is a long time from now it's enticing to know a new Sonic game is in development.
