Byleth marked the end of Fighter Pass 1 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate but a new Fighter Pass was confirmed. However, this latest fighter pass is the last.
Confirmed in Famitsu and translated by PushDustin Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that the selection for Fighter Pass 2 was made. And that no plans for future DLC were made.
It was also noted that no new entry is in development. It's unlikely Nintendo will not create a brand new entry in the series as its one of their most profitable.
Considering how much stress went into making the game. With Sakurai confirming he worked on the game while sick and connected to an IV drip, perhaps a break from the series would be ideal. Nintendo could decide to make the next game without Sakurai but considering many connect his name to the franchise it'll likely get a negative reception. However, we've seen with Pokemon Sword and Shield sales that a negative reception from fans doesn't always translate to low sales. However, more gamers have noted they're willing to wait for games if it means less crunch and healthy working conditions as more horror stories about long working hours become more common knowledge.
