Activision Blizzard Shareholders Urge Reducing CEO’s Salary
CtW Investment Group wants to limit Bobby Kotick’s yearly pay

Activision Blizzard has been earning incredibly high revenue for the past several years. Despite success, the company has continually laid off employees. Now, investors are calling out the disparity between the salaries of most full time staff versus that of CEO Bobby Kotick.

CtW Investment Group, a stakeholder in Activision Blizzard, has filed a notice with the United States Security and Exchange Commission. In it, CtW urges other shareholders to vote down a June measure that would allow Kotick to receive large and unregulated yearly bonuses. They cited that the CEO earned $28 million in 2019, while junior developers made around $40,000. On average Activision Blizzard employees made less than 0.3% compared to Kotick. The firm further stated that when combining salary and equity, Bobby Kotick earned substantially more than other CEOs in the game industry.
Activision Blizzard’s spokespeople countered that that Kotick’s salary and bonuses are warranted by his outstanding performance. Under Kotick’s leadership, Activision Blizzard has increased its capitalization from $10 million to $53 billion and that company stock price has boomed over the past 20 years.
Activision Blizzard and its shareholders will hold their annual meeting on June 11.
