Brutal Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Trailer Is Brutal

Holy gratuitous violence, Batman. Capcom is in tune with the current internet generation and knows how we thrive on unnecessary aggression. You might even call it a vulgar display of power. The newest trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is just plain, well, evil.

Did anyone else get a (lady)boner?

The gameplay footage edited together make the reel look more like a death metal video than anything else. Of course, the fact that there are actual metal riffs slicing through the whole thing doesn’t help. What ensues is a clip that hasn’t been this brutal since Event Horizon’s classic rape room scene. An arsenal of weaponry gets taken to the villains that look like Nazis and executions follow each other in rapid succession. Gore and guts fly everywhere as a number of finishers get a good close-up. There’s even a flamethrower in there and some classic corpse shooting. It even ends with the ominous phrase: “All Roads Lead To Hell.” Perhaps that’s the name of the song.

It doesn't get any more gratuitous than this. I tried.

The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 version will launch March 20, 2012. The PC version will take a bit longer and will release on May 18. You’ll want to stick it through to the very end, by the way. The epilogue is, again, totally unnecessary and that’s how we want it.
