A Cryptic Switch 2 Game Tease Has Everyone Guessing What It Could Be

A dev interviewer teases a jaw-dropping port, Sega locks in Virtua Fighter 5's Switch 2 date, and Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined keeps climbing the charts.

You're hearing more noise about a supposed shocking game headed to Nintendo Switch 2, and the unusual part is that it isn't coming from a random leak account. It's coming from a game developer interviewer who has built a reputation by speaking directly with developers.

This is not the first time this interviewer has hinted at something big tied to Switch 2. He previously mentioned a game that made him react in disbelief that it could even run on the system. At the time, you could dismiss it. There was no title and no proof that it was more than a passing comment.

He is back in these conversations after he posted a picture of a few big games, a clue that looked like a reaction, and then a riddle. The riddle says that the game is next to legends but isn't related to them. It comes with the same keys, shares the same screen and light, but still isn't a part of the fight by bloodline. He then asked, "What is that game?"

The image sparked the debate because it shows a lineup of recognizable titles: Monster Hunter: Wilds, Death Stranding 2, Palworld, Black Myth: Wukong, Halo: Combat Evolved remake, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition, and Bloodborne.

Each one would create a different kind of reaction if it landed on Switch 2. To add to the confusion, he followed up by saying people are too focused on the image and not on the riddle itself. That leaves you wondering whether the picture is the real clue or a distraction.

If you approach it practically, you probably look at both the image and the riddle together.

It is reasonable to assume that if someone posts a riddle alongside a specific set of games, the answer is likely among them. Otherwise, the puzzle becomes meaningless. So you begin eliminating options. Monster Hunter Wilds does not feel like an impossible scenario for the Switch 2.

Capcom has long supported Nintendo platforms with Monster Hunter titles. If Switch 2 hardware is strong and the audience is there, a version of that game makes business sense. It would be interesting, but not unbelievable.

Death Stranding 2 is surprising at first glance, but the series already expanded beyond one platform. The first game was released on PC and later on Xbox. It skipped Nintendo before, but the franchise itself is no longer an “exclusive” exclusive, if you know what I mean. That makes a new platform version notable, yet not rule-breaking.

Palworld is controversial due to legal disputes, and that alone could prompt a platform to move dramatically.

Black Myth: Wukong is another example of how size alone doesn't mean something is impossible. It is already being treated like a big release on multiple platforms. If the developer wants to reach more people, making a Switch 2 version is a technical and financial choice, not a shocking turn of events.

Halo Combat Evolved remake sounds crazy emotionally because Halo has been a big part of Xbox's identity for a long time. But you've also seen Microsoft change its strategy to reach more platforms. Now, more of its games are available on other platforms. In that light, it doesn't seem as crazy for Halo to show up in other places as it used to.

That leaves Bloodborne and Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition as the two games that people keep coming back to. Bloodborne is the loud choice. It has been stuck on its original platform for years, and fans are always asking for a PC port or a PS5 upgrade.

The longer nothing happens, the more people ask for it. If it suddenly showed up on Switch 2, there would be a huge and immediate reaction. You can already see the social media feeds. Its long exclusivity and lack of movement, on the other hand, make it seem less likely. It's hard to believe that its first jump will be to Nintendo hardware if it hasn't moved at all yet.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition has a different feel to it. It is a big name in single-player PlayStation games. You've already seen PlayStation games come to PC, which makes sense because PC isn't a console platform that competes with PlayStation in the same way.

But it would feel like a bigger change if a big single-player PlayStation series came to Nintendo hardware. It's easier to make a case for smaller or multiplayer games, but a flagship-style single-player

Some point to the Lego Horizon release as a possible stepping stone. If a Horizon-branded game has already touched a Nintendo audience in some form, it can serve as a soft introduction to the world and characters. It does not guarantee anything, but it makes the idea easier to imagine.

If you weigh realism against impact, you end up stuck between Bloodborne as the most explosive option and Horizon as the most plausible major surprise. With a Nintendo Direct expected in the future, the timing adds pressure because big announcements usually land in those showcases.

There is also confirmed Switch 2 news that is much less mysterious while you try to figure out that riddle. The release date for Virtua Fighter 5 Revo World Stage is now set, and there is a beta period.

The Switch 2 version comes out on March 26, and an open beta runs from February 19 to February 24. If you follow fighting games, you know that early online testing is important because the number of players and the quality of the netcode can make or break long-term interest.

This version isn't brand new overall, since it came out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam in late 2025. However, the release on Switch 2 will bring in more players.

In the West, there will also be a physical game key card edition that costs $49.99 and comes with extra content. That package includes anniversary costume sets, special packs, music choices, and materials that reveal what happened behind the scenes.

The game has a world stage mode where you can compete in global tournaments, fight through themed booths, and face rivals made from real player data. There are also side tournaments and other types of challenges, so you don't have to stick to one competitive path.

Switch 2 players can play with people on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, and they can also use rollback netcode. You already know how important rollback is for the quality of matches if you play fighting games online.

There are also more training tools, which give you more options for practicing and improving your characters. If this goes well, it sets the bar for how other competitive games should work on Nintendo going forward.

The other big Switch 2 talk right now is about Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined and how it's gaining popularity.

The new trailer for Adventure Log Part 3 shows off the updated vocation systems. If you play Dragon Quest, you know that vocations affect how your characters grow and how battles go.  The game will come out on February 5 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. You can also play a demo of the game now, and your progress will carry over to the full game. You have to change how you do it because you're not just testing; you're getting a head start.

It will feel familiar if you've played games like Super Mario RPG or earlier Dragon Quest games. The music, art direction, and interface design all work together in a way that feels both old and new. Earlier versions of Dragon Quest 7 didn't have the same effect in every region, and some releases were easy to miss. This new version seems more like a big release than a quiet one.

You can also see how stores are doing in terms of sales. The game is now at the top of the Switch 2 eShop charts, even ahead of big releases. The chart now ranks by revenue instead of raw units, which stops titles with big discounts from taking over the list just because they sell a lot of copies. That means that higher placement means more overall interest in buying, including pre-orders.

There is also a clear plan for the platform behind the launch. The game won't be coming out on older PlayStation and Xbox systems, but it will still be available on Switch. That shows that Square Enix knows how big the Nintendo RPG audience still is.

This style of RPG works well for people who like to play on both handheld and docked. Demo impressions show that the game runs smoothly, the maps are well-balanced, and the combat systems work well with the different classes.

When you look at the whole picture, you can see three Switch 2 storylines happening at the same time.

You have a mystery that is based on a riddle about a major possible port, a confirmed fighting game release that focuses on cross-play and online quality, and an RPG launch that is gaining steady momentum through demos and trailers. You have to do what everyone else is doing: reread the riddle, look over the game list, and wonder which title will be the next big Switch 2 surprise
