Destiny 2's second expansion coming this May

Today game director, Christopher Barrett, revealed that Destiny 2's next expansion will release this May.
Given that Destiny 2's third season will begin in May this seems logical. However, fans have pointed out that the expansion wasn't written in the roadmap for Destiny 2's future updates. In addition, some were confused when the Eater of Worlds Presitage mode also releases in May.
Regardless, having some clarity regarding the future of Destiny is reliving considering the game's history of misinformation.
Destiny 2 is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
