Dispatch is celebrating its first anniversary with a massive update, and AdHoc Studio has plenty of new content for fans to enjoy. From additional game modes and physical releases to a vinyl soundtrack and mobile versions, the game has a lot happening as it marks its first year. Although the studio hasn't announced Season 2, it has confirmed that announcements are coming later this year.

AdHoc kicked off the celebrations by thanking fans and confirming that Dispatch has officially sold more than 5 million copies. That's an impressive milestone for an indie game featuring an original cast of characters. In an exclusive interview with Variety, AdHoc Studio said the game's success has doubled the team, giving them more room to work on future projects and deliver additional content.

Dispatch Anniversary DLC

The anniversary update introduces two new game modes. If you already own the Deluxe Edition DLC, you can access them for free by downloading the latest update. Otherwise, you can upgrade your edition for $10, with Steam and Xbox users getting 20% off.

The first addition is Cast and Crew Commentary, which offers approximately 16 hours of commentary across the game's episodes.

Depending on your choices, different members of the voice cast and development team will offer insights into the game's production and story. AdHoc has also listed the potential commentators for each episode in its anniversary blog post.

The second mode is Storyboard Mode, which lets you play through the entire game using its original storyboard animatics. Instead of seeing the finished animations, you can experience the scenes as they appeared during the early stages of development, before they were fully animated.

AdHoc has also revealed an official physical edition of Dispatch, arriving during the holiday season. The package includes a physical copy of the game (no download code), two new game modes, a two-sided poster, a 16-page pocket edition of SDN's Guide to Dispatching, and a soundtrack code. Collectors can also get a steelbook edition exclusively through Panic Games.

However, the first run is limited, and the next production run won't arrive until Spring 2027.

There's more for physical collectors, too. AdHoc has partnered with Lost and Cult to produce an official art book titled Dispatch Design Works. This hardcover book and collectible box set will take you behind the scenes through hours of interviews with the developers and voice cast. Additional details, including pre-order information, are expected at the end of November.

For fans of the game's soundtrack, Dispatch: The Album is now available on vinyl, featuring artwork from the game's art director, Derek Stratton. The vinyl release is available exclusively through Lost and Cult Records. If you'd prefer to hear the music performed live, Dispatch is also getting its first-ever concert.

Titled One Night Shipped Only, the event will take place at Avalon Hollywood and feature artists such as Thought Squad performing songs from the game and their own albums. Composer Andrew Arcadi will also perform the game's score live. Fans can join the event's email list before the 28th of this month to receive a unique code for pre-sale tickets.

Another major announcement is Dispatch's arrival on mobile devices.

It was released on PS5 and PC before coming to Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Now, it's on iOS and Android. New players can play the first four episodes for free before buying the rest of the content for $19.99, so there's no pressure to buy the full release right away.

Dispatch Storyboard Mode

AdHoc has also expanded its anniversary merch line with new artwork and Beef the Dog hoodies. The Deluxe Edition comic books are also available in print, with the covers coming together to form a larger action scene. Fans can get the full set, adding another collectible to Dispatch's ever-expanding merchandise range.

Despite all these announcements, one major omission was Season 2. AdHoc didn't reveal a second season during the anniversary celebrations, but there's still reason to be optimistic about the game's future.

According to the Variety interview, the studio has doubled in size following Dispatch's success. AdHoc is also working on another game that was in early development before the team put it on hold to focus on finishing Dispatch.

While the studio hasn't announced Season 2, the game's growth and sales numbers show strong potential for future projects.

AdHoc confirmed more announcements are planned for later this year, so we could still get an official Season 2 announcement before 2027. But there's no confirmed release date, and fans shouldn't expect to play new episodes anytime soon. Given the sheer amount of work that goes into a narrative-driven game with lots of animation, voice acting, and player choices, a 2028 or later release is possible, but that's still speculation.

For now, there are plenty of reasons to head back to Dispatch for the anniversary update, whether to check out the new game modes, try the mobile version, or grab some of the newly announced collectibles. Dispatch had an impressive first year, selling more than 5 million copies and building a larger team for future projects. AdHoc's latest celebrations prove the studio isn't finished with the franchise yet, even if Season 2 remains unannounced.
