Fans Unhappy at PSP Go Price
News by Craig Bryan on Oct 05, 2009
Sony are setting their sights high with the PSP Go; predicting a fierce Christmas battle with Nintendo’s mass-selling DS and Apple’s iPod and iPhone products. However, if fans’ reaction to the price of their handheld upgrade is anything to go by then perhaps they should be aiming a little south of that.
A NoobFeed reporter has been out and about getting the latest opinions from gamers. “I don’t know what Sony was thinking,” said a dedicated fan, “Why would I pay £200 for something that offers almost nothing new to existing PSP owners, when I can go buy a PS3 Slim for just £50 more.”
That was just one of many similar responses. In fact when confronted with the issue of price we didn’t get one single bit of positive feedback. We even caught up with someone right after their purchase, and while they were looking forward to some of its new features they couldn’t help but feel a little short-changed.
Kaz Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, isn’t worried though and justifies the price by stating, “There will be more content that is easier to get on your PSP. Its entertainment everywhere and it's built for people who live a more digital lifestyle. It's designed to bring all kinds of content to the PSP.”
Sony’s PSP Go - which can connect to the PlayStation 3 to download games, films and other such content - is on sale now worldwide now.
