iPhone Update Killing Battery

News by Craig Bryan on  Sep 22, 2009

Apple’s forums have been overrun with complaints people have over the new 3.1 operating system update for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS that was made available for download on September 9.

The update - which includes features such as: faster start-up times, improved reception, genius recommendations for various Apps, and the ability to save videos via email and MMS - also has the rather annoying side effect of a horrendous battery life.

Some users are reporting a sudden shut-down of their phone for no apparent reason, while others are witnessing their battery skip from full power to just over half in the space of an hour on standby.

While there has been no official announcement on when we are expected to see a fix available, the problem is that severe and wide-spread that it could be released as early as this coming Friday.
