Joipaw is a new startup with the goal of creating a gaming console exclusively to be used by dogs for the purposes of combatting some of the cognitive degeneration that ageing dogs face every year. The console is focused on two main issues: providing material stimulation for dogs and tackling Canine Cognitive Dysfunction.

The company released a post that details their plans for this console. The idea is that it will provide a dog with stimulation when we simply cannot. A dog’s caretaker cannot always be there to provide the mental stimulation that is needed by all living creatures, so this console gives them that. It has games that the dog can play that will be able to test, monitor, and track their cognitive abilities, such as a whack-a-mole game they can play with their nose.
The blog post states: “Our company offers a holistic approach to preventative dog health care. We combine both cognitive and physical stimulation in the form of a dog-tailored console, a wearable and a software platform which allows you to track your dog’s health indicators. Joipaw alerts you early if any abnormal behavior is detected, and our goal is to share this data with your vet to enable better diagnostics before potential complications.”
This means that this console is there to help your dog live the best life they can for as long as possible, because, as the post explains, about 35% of dogs end up getting dementia as they age. This hardware and software can help limit that by simply ensuring that they remain as stimulated as possible for as long as possible in their lives. We all know that after retirement, if new work is not found, a person tends to deteriorate rather quickly. Well, the same is true of dogs. They need to have their minds exercised as well as their bodies if they want to stay heathy for as long as possible.
