Microsoft Explains Why Crackdown Won't Release in 2016
Looks like Crackdown 3 needs more time

Days before E3 2016 Crackdown 3 was pushed back to 2017 without an explaination, until now. Microsoft Studios general manager, Shannon Loftis, explained why the next installment was pushed back.

In an interview with Gameinformer at E3 2016 Loftis explained that development was progresses well but due to the game having two components, Crackdown online and the campaign, Microsoft wanted to keep the two sections closer together instead of creating a gap between the beta and main game. Basically meaning that the campaign isn't ready and creating a gap between the online portion of Crackdown and the campaign isn't what Microsoft wants.
“Development has been going incredibly well. I’ve actually been playing a ton of it...To be honest, because we obviously have this Crackdown Online mode and then we also have the traditional Crackdown campaign, which has multiplayer online. But we want to launch our online beta so that it’s not too far in advance of the complete campaign. It’s actually the campaign that we’re doubling down on now. We’ve got internal play sessions every week for Crackdown Online. We’re starting now to get the campaign in. Building these open world games is both challenging and a blast, because you have to build all of the systems that interact together. Before you get to the point where you can actually experience what the game feels like and can start building your missions and telling your stories.”
Crackdown currently does not have a release date but is scheduled to release in 2017 for Xbox One.
