Netflix Plans to Offer Video Games

Netflix was the vanguard for streaming services and since then more competition has surfaced from Hulu, Disney Plus, and so many more. Netflix has extended and double-downed on original programs but now is seeking to go into video games.

According to Bloomberg:

Pushing into games would be one of Netflix’s boldest moves yet. In Verdu, the company has an executive who worked on popular mobile games at Electronic Arts, including titles in the Sims, Plants vs. Zombies and Star Wars franchises. He also served as chief creative officer for Zynga Inc. between 2009 and 2012.

Netflix did offer Telltale's Minecraft Story Mode as a way to provide the video game experience through streaming. This will also lure more customers from competing services while also dipping the company's hands into one of the most valuable entertainment markets in the world.

This can also go the other way. Google attempting to enter the video game sphere and failed with Stadia. Trying to develop and become a huge gaming giant alongside Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo right away but instead ended up stopping all first-party development. Now focusing on third-party support and providing Stadia tech to developers. So Netflix should try and start small with indie titles before deciding to try and deliver AAA titles, go small before going large.
