Tatsumi Kimishima retiring, successor named

Nintendo announced during its latest financial earnings report that president Tatsumi Kimishima will step down from his position this June. Retiring officially on June 28th, pending shareholder approval, Shuntaro Furukawa, who runs Nintendo's global marketing department and has been part of Nintendo since 1994 will assume the title of representative director and president.

While Kimishima's time in office was much shorter than his predecessor, Satoru Iwata who unfortunately passed away on July 11th, 2015, his successes will be remembered fondly. Launching the Nintendo Switch console that powered by 2017 with strong sales and a diverse selection of both exclusive and third-party titles. With titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey which was confirmed to have sold 10 million units since its debut in 2017.
