Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - The Forgotten Sanctum will be out on December 13th, devleoper Obsidian Entertainment announced today. The final of three planned DLCs will take players to the Black Isle and into the titulary Forgotten Sanctum.
The official blurb reads: "When a violent tremor shatters the islands of the Deadfire, the greatest wizards in Eora seek out the aid of the Watcher. The archmage Maura has vanished into the depths of a newly opened dungeon located in the Black Isles and threatens to awaken what lies forgotten there. Follow Maura's trail and determine the fate of one of the Deadfire Archipelago's most closely-held secrets.". What really caught my attention was the promise of traversing "an expansive dungeon built into the flesh of a sleeping god.".
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - The Forgotten Sanctum will launch alongside Patch 4.0, which brings a handful of interesting additions. Every class is getting a brand new sub-class, the developer quoting the Priest of Woedica and Steel Garrote sub-classes as examples. The ships roaming the Deadfire Archipelago will now respawn, while three new challenges and two new mega bosses are also making their way towards the Deadfire.
Obsidian Entertainment also briefly addressed the console versions of the title, saying that more details are coming in the next update while adding that the game "is still coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch". This should calm the spirits of those who were unsure as to the fate of the title's console version following Microsoft's acquisition of Obsidian and inXile.
