PlatinumGames Interested in Self-Publishing Bayonetta

PlatinumGames has stated before that they're interested in self-publishing their games. And Bayonetta is one of those IPs. With producer Atsushi Inaba expressing interest in the idea but the cost being too high.

Speaking to IGN Japan and reported by Anime News Network Inaba wants to own the IP but it seems impossible. Currently, the IP is owned by Nintendo and SEGA. If it wasn't for Nintendo PlatinumGames would not of been able to develop a sequel and the now in development Bayonetta 3. 

The IP is very hot right now as the series has grown in popularity. Currently, a remastered version of the first game is being released along with Vanquish that launches next week. And PlatinumGames is working on a remaster of The Wonderful 101 for the PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch that was funded through Kickstarter.

Owning the IP would give PlatinumGames the ability to sell the title on various platforms. Fans of the company's games have been asking PlatinumGames to release their recent title Astral Chain on other platforms. But seeing Nintendo funded the project it's unlikely they would allow it.
