PSN Sales Beat all of Nintendo
Sony is dominating the competition with PSN alone
News by Adam Siddiqui on Apr 29, 2016
Turns out the PlayStation Network made a lot of money last fiscal quarter, more than Nintendo’s entire company.

Today Twitter user ZhugeEX revealed the information in a graph chart, highlighting that PSN sales alone amounted to more than the entirety of Nintendo’s revenue for the same period. Basically Sony’s gaming generation is making a lot of money, with games and network services pulling 12.4 billion dollars in 2015. The PSN alone 4.9 billion, with Nintendo as a whole brought 4.5 billion.
With over 40 million in PS4 sales, 17.7 million from last year, Sony’s console has been going strong since launch. Good thing they decided to not include a $100 camera and focus on games instead of television from the start.
Microsoft has stopped publishing sales of their consoles but the company has confirmed although Minecraft drive game software sales up 9%, no surprised there, the Xbox hardware revenues dropped 26% in the last quarter. In comparison the Wii U has sold over 12 million consoles and with Zelda now coming to NX it’s doubtful that number will rise substantially.
ZhugeEX provided a helpful chart, seen above, that shows the sales of consoles from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft 2 years after they launched. The Wii remaining the strongest followed by Sony’s PS4, PS2, and PS3.
Judging from Sony’s insane PSN sales, Microsoft’s success with Xbox Live, and now Nintendo moving forward with My Nintendo it’s clear that network services are the future. This is further supplemented by Xbox Live’s revenue growing 22%.
So what do you think can Nintendo pull this around with the NX, My Nintendo, and their soaring mobile gaming platforms? Let us know in the comments below!
