PSN Soap: Latest Update(s)

19 days: this is the period in which the PSN services are down. Since last April 20, any user can't access or take advantage of the multiplayer modes in their games. The cause of all this, as you must know, are the hackers.

To punish those responsible for shutting down its online system, Sony is considering offering a reward to users who have provided information to help catch the attackers. Nothing was talked about the value of the rebate or if it is really implemented, because the decision would need to be approved by headquarters in Japan, which must evaluate the pros and cons of taking such a decision.

The PlayStation Network still remains down as of today, Bloomberg reports, and according to Tokyo-based spokesperson for Sony, Shigenori Yoshida, the platform holder is uncertain as to when it can resume the PSN service. However, May 31st is scheduled as the target date for the network restoration, with security checks and tests still ongoing.

The silver lining in this vast sky of dark clouds, is that PSN users will be compensated with two free PS3 games out of a selection of five yet to be named, confirms a post on the PlayStation Blog. This is in addition to the 30 days of free PS Plus membership and free content to be announced in the near future.
