Red Barrels Details Some Oh So Scary Outlast DLC

Perhaps you had a little fun this Halloween and went trick-or-treating or found yourself at a costume party; perhaps not. Maybe, like thousands of other gamers, you decided to stay in, kick back and scare yourself silly with a horror game. If the latter sounds familiar than you may have been playing Red Barrels' Outlast.

Outlast follows journalist Miles Upshur as he breaks into Mount Massive Asylum. Soon discovering just how terrifying the facility is, Upshur quickly makes a break for the door, finding his escape more difficult than his arrival. As promised, Red Barrels revealed the first details on the upcoming DLC for Outlast, titled Whistleblower. Outlast: Whistleblower takes place prior to the original game, and once again brings players through Mount Massive Asylum and back to the terror within. This time around, the games protagonist is the whistleblower; he or she is the informant whose anonymous tip brought the journalist, Miles Upshur, to the asylum in the original game.

In Outlast: Whistleblower players will see what led to the asylums collapse, coming across the experiments, abuse and slaughter, and eventually experiencing the asylum's outbreak directly. Surviving means new environments, characters and quests to haunt your nightmares, and revealing things that were meant to remain covered.

Released in September, Outlast is currently available on the PC, and in the future will be released on PlayStation 4. No release date has been set for Outlast: Whistleblower.
