Road named after Lara Croft

Can you really blame the British for loving Lara Croft? Recently, the eponymous Tomb Raider heroine has had a road named after her; dubbed, “The Lara Croft Way,” within the city of Derby, England.
A mass of 27,000 people participated in the voting for the name, and 89% favored to have Ms. Croft coincided with it.
Counselor Lucy Care told BBC News that the voting “really captured the imagination of people from across the world and, despite my lack of gaming knowledge, I accept that a majority of 89% for Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore. She was created in Derby and deserves to stand alongside some of the more traditional icons of the city.
It does make a whole lot of sense, since Core Design, the original developer of the Tomb Raider games, was based in Derby. Despite Crystal Dynamics now taking over the reins of the series (starting with Legend to then on), Core Design is still wholeheartedly considered Lara Croft's real home.
To a more… gaming related news, Crystal Dynamics hinted last year that a reboot would be made for the next installment in the Tomb Raider franchise. As of right now, there have not been any announcements regarding the subject, but you can expect more Tomb Raider-related news in the future.
