Rumor: MAGFest Has Fired All Employees
The Maryland based game convention has had another shakeup.

The website Friends of MAG has been updated stating that the Music and Game Festival (MAGFest)'s remaining employees have been let go and banned from attending future conventions. This seems to be a result of employees unwilling to relinquish their rights to sue the company and its executives. Director Paul Birtel came under fire last November after employees accused him of harassment and other forms of abuse. Rather than come to negations, the board of directors has decided to fire the staff and suspend their benefits. It is unclear if this means future MAGFests will be canceled or reorganized.

MAGFest had been one of the East Coast United States most popular game conventions for over a decade, with its main highlight of being open 24-hours a day. The convention always included a massive arcade hall with classic video games and pinball machines. The venue drew in performances from bands like Powerglove and the Minibosses. Panels featured gaming icons like Sid Meier and Nobuo Uematsu. The 2020 MAGFest was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but plans were already underway for MAGFest 2021 to be fully online.
