Scotland Yard Makes Lulzsec Hacker Arrest

My word, old chap, it seems the Bobbies have gone all dotty and done up a youngster this eve. I’m sure you’ve heard of the recent wave of external intrusions on game related websites and such. If not, then you will no doubt remember the PSN debacle. Well, it seems that the UK is charging in to thwart some of these e-criminals.

Pish posh, spit spot, honey pops and all that. I say, Jeeves.

A teenager in Essex has been arrested in suspicion of the “Lulzsec hacker” involvement. New Scotland Yard is holding the 19-year-old for interrogation and has also examined “a significant amount of material.” The Metropolitan police states: “The arrest follows an investigation into network intrusions and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group.”

Let’s try and speculate what will happen if this youth gets sentenced: One of the charges has the word “fraud” in it. In my country for instance, money forgery is strangely a bigger crime than murder, which should give you an idea of how capitalism prioritizes your general well-being. As fraud can be linked to such a misleading act of messing with people’s income, by taking down their site for instance, things could turn pretty grim. Also, I find it quite humorous that another charge states “Computer Misuse,” as I never imagined one could misuse a Personal Computer. But I suppose social control and accountability overtakes civil liberties in this case; I’m no lawyer, just a person. I’ll let the debate fly rampant on this one.

D'awww, isn't that the cutest little bear-pig you've ever seen?

Now, I’m all for these “hackers” getting a slap on the wrist for their misconduct, as long as the punishment will fit the crime. But let’s not forget what that crime is. It’s essentially a bunch of jerks messing around on the digital plane. There are billions of jerks on the planet and we don’t incarcerate those. But given the monetary spin that could be given to the crime, that lad had better hope for a quick dismissal. I’m pretty sure New Scotland Yard has much more pressing issues anyway. There’s probably someone forging money right this instance.

Converse!
