Sledgehammer Games to develop Modern Warfare 3?
News by David on Jan 14, 2010
Infinity Ward, who has brought you smash hits like Call of Duty 4 and its sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, has said will not be working on Modern Warfare 3. Having already reached $1 billion in sales recently, it's surprising that the famed developer will not be on board for the military first-person shooter, super-smash hit of 2009. Instead, Infinity Ward will be "working on something new."
"Right now we don't have a clue what our next game is going to be, and we won't know what it will be until we finish with Modern Warfare 2, which won't be for a while," Infinity Ward spokesperson Robert Bowling has recently said.
According to British gaming site VG247, there has been no decision as of late whether or not Infinity Ward will be at the helm for Modern Warfare 3. Two unconfirmed sources in the site state that there are a couple of developers rumored to start developing Modern Warfare 3. The first one mentioned a studio stationed in Canada might be on board. It will most likely be Radical Entertainment (Prototype), who is currently signed on with Activision. The second source said Sledgehammer Games will be making the game, a new development company situated in the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, the development team consists of Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield, who were mostly responsible for the making of Electronic Arts' Dead Space.
Sledgehammer Games is currently hiring a multiplayer developer/designer with at least "five years experience working on current AAA multiplayer shooters for current consoles and PC." Activision has not returned any requests or calls for commenting as of late.
