Sony Confirms Vita's Downhill Fall, Placing More Focus on Mobile Gaming
Sony is taking mobile gaming seriously

Sony is taking mobile gaming very seriously, planning to release five new games before March 2017 for iOS and Android devices through Sony's ForwardWorks subsidiary.

Opened earlier this year to focus on the mobile gaming market Serkan Toto, CEO of Japanese gaming consultant and advisory group Kantan Games commented to CNBC:
"Japan is a market where Sony and other console makers are struggling to sell units. Sony had to react. People are consuming smartphone games like there is no tomorrow," Serkan Toto, CEO of Japanese gaming consultant and advisory group Kantan Games, told CNBC by phone."
Toto went on to cite Nintendo's recent success in the mobile gaming world stating that Nintendo's first-party IPs remain the most iconic in the world.
"Sony doesn't have the same power as the Nintendo IP. There is nothing that comes even close to Mario," Toto said.
As for those hoping for the PS Vita to resurge after this year's E3 2016 and NYC Convention left Sony's handheld missing in action Toto had this heartbreaking news.
"If the first couple of games from that company just don't work, I think the smartphone game business will see the same fate as the portable game business. Nobody talks about the Vita anymore,"
This seems rather strange considering the Vita is much popular in Japan than other markets.
