Back with a "thingy"

Rant by ILIAS on  Aug 22, 2009

Back from holidays (sigh). These days have passed so fast. They say it's a common thing. When you have no stress, days come and go like the wind. I really relaxed and felt like recharging by biological "batteries". Everything was perfect until...

One night I felt the following : pain in the stomach, difficulty into breathing, my left arm almost as if it wasn't there and pain on the chest and at the back. The next moment I felt like drooling, as if I had fever. and I started feeling dizzy. The strange thing was that I had no problem with my body temperature.

I instantly woke up my father, we called a taxi and rushed to the hospital. The doctors were fast and accurate. Blood tests couldn't have been better, same thing for the heart tests. Doctors checked for H1N1 virus just in case, results were negative. I also got x-rays for my lungs, the funny thing is that the doctor asked me if I smoke, because my lungs were looking shiny (these were his exact words). So, was I clear to leave ? Nope. The cardiologist listened to my little story with all the symptoms very carefully and he suggested to see the neurologist. WHAT ????

Sorry doc, but my only craziness is Liverpool, I said. Wrong again the doc replied, neurology has nothing to do with craziness or anything similar. I couldn't have done anything else since I was on a bed with a needle on my left arm and my reflexes were highly reduced. But the neurologist spoke the truth. He was mainly based on the fact that I was drooling and feeling my body shaking for a couple of seconds without having fever. This was a result of a high stress period. When you make yourself go from a "red" situation to a totally "green" and relaxed one, usually you have those kind of symptoms. To cut a long story short, the doctor said that I should stop caring less for things and reduce my stress A LOT. Easy to say...

I know two things :

a) This was the first time in my life that I honestly felt how is to be really scared. May be I was panicked too, but I refuse to admit it.

b) While I was waiting for the taxi to go to the hospital, I changed the t-shirt I was wearing and I wore a simple red t-shirt with liverbird on it. If something had gone wrong, I'd wanted to have the liverbird upon my chest...

Thanks for reading.
