The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with many features that weren't on the Original Switch, including even physical things that players need to not remove. The second-gen Switch comes with a screen protector on the console, but Nintendo has warned against removing it like a normal console screen protector.

Nintendo's handheld console comes with a screen protector already installed, which is visible once you have removed it from the box. While some might not notice it, if you look for it, the screen protector is noticeable. However, Nintendo has released a statement letting people know that, if they purchased the Nintendo Switch 2, they need to leave the screen protector on, and there is an important reason why.

The adhesive on the Nintendo Switch 2 is designed to protect the user from screen shatter. If a gamer were to drop their console and the screen cracked or some other issue occurred, it wouldn't shatter on them. This is especially true when it comes to children using the console or keeping a screen from breaking, as well as keeping it out of the way of animals. Overall, this is one of the precautions Nintendo has added to keep their users safe.

What To Do With Your Nintendo Switch 2 Screen Protector

The best thing to do when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2 console screen protector is to leave it alone. However, some users have reported that they have damaged the screen protector adhesive that is already on the console. With that being said, some might want to double-secure it by having another tamper-proof glass protector over it.

When it comes to protecting the screen protector already on the console from damage, it is by using another screen protector on top. While it isn't recommended, it's possible that it can help with the issue if the user is rougher on their console. But this can also cause issues.

Placing another screen protector on top of the one already on the console can cause other issues like screen sensitivity not picking up touches to the screen, air bubbles given it is being placed on top of another adhesive screen protector, and it will also make the screen a little less clear of a display as well.

If a user wants to remove their Nintendo Switch 2's factory screen protector, they can do so, but this will be at their own risk, as Nintendo has recommended against doing so, as it could cause issues later. Not only can it cause harm to themselves and others if their screen shatters, but it can also lower the overall quality of the screen on the console. It is better to leave it on and decide whether to double up screen protectors or not.
