Valve's Great on Frame page currently lists four titles including two official VR technology demonstrations.

There have been a number of small updates over the past several days that have added up to a clearer picture of a release that is approaching. Additionally, the momentum surrounding Valve's Steam Frame headset continues to rise. Although none of these changes are very noteworthy on their own, when taken as a whole, they indicate that a launch is becoming closer and closer to being imminent.

As of this writing, four titles appear on the page: Portal 2, Into Black, and two Valve VR tech demos, Aperture Hand Lab and The Lab. Portal 2's inclusion is notable specifically because it is not a VR title at all, suggesting Valve is positioning the Steam Frame as more than a VR-only headset. Instead, the platform appears to be building toward an ecosystem where VR titles and traditional PC games coexist on the same device.

Steam Frame VR Launch Frame Page Shipments

Portal 2 and Into Black are the First Great On-frame Picks

Into Black, a title with strongly positive reviews on Steam, is the only game on the list not published directly by Valve, suggesting some level of outreach to external developers ahead of launch.

Alongside this curated page, more titles continue receiving official compatibility verification, marked with a green checkmark on their store listings. This kind of steady, unglamorous progress is exactly the sort of activity that typically happens in the lead-up to a new hardware launch.

Another notable development is Quantum Void launching on Steam. The game has already run well on standalone Quest hardware and offers a strong VR experience. It is now officially available on Steam as well, playable via PC VR on a Quest 3 or similar headset, though it has not yet received a Great on Frame designation.

Even without that badge, it fits the kind of title likely to become a strong fit for the Steam Frame ecosystem specifically. It's unclear whether the developers know Valve's exact release timeline, but launching on Steam now suggests they are planning ahead in light of the visible momentum. Seeing more developers release across both Quest and Steam reflects a broader positive trend for VR generally.

Additional Hardware Shipments Continue Reaching Warehouses

It suggests that additional verified titles are likely being prepared behind the scenes so that Steam Frame owners have a meaningful game library from day one. In addition to the modifications made to the software and shop, further shipments of Steam Frame hardware continue to arrive at warehouses.

According to unofficial shipment tracking, the total number of shipments designated as virtual reality devices has already reached approximately 15 shipments. This alone does not indicate a launch date; however, it does confirm that physical hardware is being positioned for eventual sale and that it now exists.

Looking at the calendar reinforces the sense that an announcement is close.

The Steam Summer Sale has ended; the official Great on Frame page has launched; additional games are still being verified; and hardware continues to move into warehouses. This is an essential prerequisite for any release.

Given that summer ends in September and Valve has described the Steam Frame as a summer release, a launch sometime in July or August looks like the most logical window, with little practical reason to wait beyond that point. None of these individual signs amounts to major news on its own, but taken together, they suggest the remaining pieces are falling into place ahead of an announcement.
