Stellar Blade Complete Edition Targets 60fps on Switch 2

A new trailer for Stellar Blade Complete Edition just dropped, and it's giving you a much better idea of what to expect when the game lands on Nintendo Switch 2. There's still no confirmed release date, and nobody's said whether Stellar Blade will ship as a full physical cartridge, a game key card, or a digital-only release.

That's honestly one of the biggest questions people keep asking, and so far there's been no official word on it. All you know right now is that Stellar Blade is set to arrive sometime in 2026, without any further specifics on format. What you can look at, though, is the footage itself, and it looks genuinely impressive.

Resolution and frame rate are the first things worth checking.

The version uploaded straight from the developer's own page was presented in 4K at 60 frames per second, while the version shared through Nintendo's own channels was shown at 1080p, also at 60fps. Based on that difference, it seems unlikely you'll be getting true native 4K on Stellar Blade for Switch 2.

There could be some kind of upscaling involved, but the realistic expectation is a 1080p target running at 60 frames per second. That's not a guarantee of a locked frame rate, though. You'll have to wait until the full release before anyone can properly test performance and confirm how stable it actually runs. Still, everything points toward 60fps being the goal for this port.

One detail that gives away that this is really the Switch 2 build is the hair tessellation. It's reminiscent of what showed up in another recent big-budget port, where hair rendering looked a bit rough around the edges. That same kind of jagged look shows up here too, which tends to happen whenever a PS5 or XBOX title gets adapted for Switch 2 hardware.

Outside of that one area, though, the character models, geometry, and overall presentation all appear to be intact. This is shaping up to be the full experience of Stellar Blade, just now playable on a Nintendo system. Since this is being billed as the Complete Edition, you're getting everything that's been added to Stellar Blade since launch.

Being the Complete Edition, this version holds a lot more.

That means all the crossover content is included, from the NIKKE collaboration to the NieR-themed additions, plus every patch and update the game has received over time. Nothing appears to be missing, which makes this version a pretty appealing package for anyone jumping in for the first time.

If you haven't played it yet, Stellar Blade offers a lot to dig into. It's a stylish action game with a story that isn't necessarily the strongest part of the experience, but it still manages to keep you curious about where things are headed. The combat and pacing make it an easy game to recommend, especially if you're into titles that borrow from a mix of influences.

You'll probably notice touches of Bayonetta, the Souls series, Nioh, and NieR: Automata throughout, though the balance leans more toward NieR and that tighter, Souls-and-Sekiro-inspired combat style rather than the flashier Bayonetta approach. All things considered, Stellar Blade looks like it's translating well to Nintendo Switch 2, and this Complete Edition seems like a strong way to introduce new players to the game.

Once an official release date and format are confirmed, expect plenty of people to jump on this version, especially with everything included right out of the gate. For now, all you can do is wait for ShiftUp to lock in the final details, but based on what's been shown so far, Stellar Blade on Switch 2 is shaping up to be one of the more exciting ports of the year.
