In Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake, you will encounter Damaging Floor Tiles that damage the Hero each time they are stepped on.

These hazardous areas can make exploration challenging, especially early in your journey. To cross such terrain safely, you can use specific spells or equipment designed to protect you from environmental damage in Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake.

Using Safe Passage Spell

One of the early ways to handle Damaging Tiles is by using the Safe Passage spell. This spell grants temporary immunity to Damaging terrain, allowing. You have to cross the Damaging Tiles without taking damage.

The effect is not permanent, but for a cost of just 2 MP, it is an efficient option when crossing short stretches of dangerous ground.

You can get the Safe Passage Scroll in Galenholm, which allows your Hero to learn and use the spell. It is useful for navigating areas that contain poison or other hazardous surfaces before you can obtain better protection.

Using Erdrick’s Armour

A more lasting solution comes from equipping Erdrick’s Armour, a legendary piece of equipment that permanently shields the Hero from Damaging terrain. Once equipped, this armour completely negates environmental damage, allowing you to move freely across any hazardous Tiles in Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake.

Go to Damdara and beat the Knight Aberrant to get Erdrick's Armor. If you want to protect yourself in a fight and from Tiles that do damage, this armor is a great addition to your gear.

Reducing Damage

If you need to cross hazardous terrain before getting Erdrick’s Armour, ensure you have enough MP to cast healing spells after taking damage. Until you learn Safe Passage or get the armour, there is no other method to prevent the effects of Damaging Tiles fully.

Locations of Damaging Tiles

There are damaged Floor Tiles all over Alefgard. Poison Tiles are the most popular type. These Tiles can be recognized by their purple color. You can find them a lot in Damdar, but you can also find Tiles like them in other places.
