Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, Guide, How to Cure All Status Effects

Sleep Status Effect

If your character is affected by Sleep, they cannot take any action until the effect ends. They will eventually wake up after several turns. Your character can also wake up if a physical attack hits them, but this cannot be relied on since the enemy may target someone else or use a spell instead.

Poison Status Effect

Your character under Poison is unable to cast spells. Any attempt to cast one will cause them to lose the turn without producing an effect in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

Dazzle Status Effect

The Dazzle ailment prevents your character from casting spells, and any attempt to do so will result in a wasted turn.

Fizzle Status Effect

The Fizzle status seals your character’s spellcasting. They will fail any spell they try to cast and lose their action for that turn.

Curse Status Effect

The effect of the Curse depends on the specific cursed equipment being used. Cursed gear cannot be removed manually, so you must rely on other methods to clear the condition in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

Preventing Status Ailments With Fizzle

Casting Fizzle is a way to stop enemy spellcasters from applying status conditions. The spell costs 5 MP and seals the spells of one group of enemies.

While Fizzle does not remove existing ailments, using it early can prevent many conditions from being inflicted if the enemy is susceptible to it.

Managing Sleep During Battle

If Sleep affects your character, they will wake up on their own after a few turns. They might also wake up if they are physically hit, but this isn't always the case, as enemies may hit you with alternative methods. You can't defend yourself or help in the fight until the effect goes off.

Removing Ailments at a Church

You can remove Poison and Curse by visiting a Priest or Nun. They can clear these conditions in exchange for gold. Ensure you have sufficient funds before requesting their assistance.

Preventing Ailments Through Equipment

Some equipment pieces increase resistance to status conditions. The Banishing Bells help resist Snooze and Fizzle, while the Fizzle-Retardant Blouse prevents spell sealing. The Necklace of Immunity helps reduce the chance of being poisoned.

The Torc of Truth lowers the chance of being affected by Dazzle, and the Full Moon Ring reduces the chance of paralysis. By equipping these items, you lower your risk of being affected during combat in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

Removing Poison With Squelch or Herbs

To cure Poison, you can cast Squelch or use an Antidotal Herb. Using an herb is often preferred, as it allows you to save MP for other needs later in the fight or while exploring.
