You will encounter floor tiles that deal damage as you move through different areas in Dragon Quest 2 HD-2D Remake. These tiles can drain your party’s health, so knowing how to cross them is important.

Using Safe Passage

You can avoid tile damage by using the spell Safe Passage. The Prince of Cannock learns this spell at level 21. The spell has no drawbacks and costs only 1 MP.

When you have access to it, you can cast it before entering an area with damaging tiles to move through without losing health in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

Crossing Without Safe Passage

If you cannot use Safe Passage, you can move through these tiles by healing as you walk. You can use healing spells or any items you have with you. This lets you move forward while keeping your party from being knocked out.

Using Erdrick’s Armor

If the Prince of Midenhall equips Erdrick’s Armor, he will take no damage from harmful tiles. Only one set exists in the game, so the rest of your party will still lose health when crossing these areas.

If you do not have access to Safe Passage, you should focus your healing on the party members who continue to take damage in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.

Tile Types and Damage

Several tile types deal damage. Poison Tiles deal 1 point of damage. Lava Tiles also deal 1 point of damage. There are stronger tiles in many dungeons, including Blue Damage Tiles, which deal 14 points of damage, and Yellow Damage Tiles, which deal 30 points of damage.

Dungeon tiles often look different from natural tiles and have an electrified design, so watch the floor as you move to avoid losing health or being defeated in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake.
