The Equilibrious Beast represents one of the most challenging encounters you'll face, requiring precise coordination, proper preparation, and a deep understanding of complex mechanics.
This complete guide will teach you everything you need to know to beat this tough opponent, whether you're playing with an organized team or with random people picked at random.
This Equilibrious Beast boss fight definitely takes quite a bit of work, and you should go in with your full team of friends if you can. However, even as a solo player or matchmaking with others, you can definitely get this done, but everyone will need to work together.
Combat Strategies
There are only two ways to beat this boss. Either everyone needs to have a really, really strong, powerful melee weapon, meaning either a purple or gold melee weapon, or you will need to go in with range attacks.
If you're matchmaking with random players and you don't know what the other people are going to be using, the safest bet is to go range.
However, if you have a full team of friends and you're willing to work together, it is just fine to go in with melee weapons once you know the mechanics of the boss fight.
Pre-Fight Preparation
Definitely make sure you have purple or yellow weapons before going into the fight. You want to make sure you have a couple of lightning greases if you have them. Go out of your way during your run to upgrade your health bar and make sure you get that increased.
Once you get here, make sure you have a purple stone ready so that if you have a bow, you can make sure that it is at least a purple bow.
If you're going in with the melee strategy, make sure you also have purple weapons for this. Be sure to utilize all these extra items. There are items that will reset your mana for you, and there are items that will heal your teammates.
You don't want to go in with an empty inventory. It's better to have extra stuff with you. On top of that, you can bring in the lightning grease. It's going to help deal extra damage with your weapons when it's time to damage the boss.
Recommended Team Composition
Ideally, you should all be level 15 with seven flasks and extra cash left over. A good setup includes one player with a purple bow and purple sword, while teammates can go in with purple swords, purple hammers, or crossbows as a backup.
If you're running Revenant, this boss is very, very aggressive, so you're able to create extra targets with your ghost and deviate some of the attention from the boss away from your teammates and yourself.
Pre-Boss Negotiations
Before going in the boss fight, you're going to have the choice to actually make a deal with the boss to get better upgrades along the way. You should refuse all the deals with this character because every deal that he offers you also takes something away.
Because the boss is so difficult and based on so many different mechanics, it's best to go in with what you already had before coming in here and not risk getting debuffed by most of the things that this guy offers you.
Combat Mechanics
Basic Attack Patterns
Because this boss's attacks are so strong, choosing to play range on this boss is recommended. The boss will cast these different spells on the ground, and if they hit you, they're going to do about 50% of your health bar. This is why staying at a distance is preferred.
The boss is going to switch his aggression from player to player. Whenever the boss is not being aggressive towards you, it's your free shot to actually go in and deal damage.
If you're using melee weapons and you notice that the boss is strictly on another teammate, this is your opportunity to attack.
You can also spawn in the ghost to distract the boss, as he's going to teleport around and cast out these spells on different random occasions.
Ground Spell Management
Because these huge spells are going to constantly be raining down on the ground, you really do have to be on the move constantly. That's why it's better not to really be running melee weapons because if you're close to your teammates, it's going to be almost impossible to get out of these attacks.
Bubble Shield Phase
Occasionally, the boss will go into this phase where he actually forms a giant bubble around himself. This bubble will make him invincible, and what you have to do is run through all these different hexes in order to break his spell and his shield in order to deal damage again.
If you're running the melee class after breaking all of his spells, this is the time when you can run in and do massive amounts of damage.
However, if you're running without teammates or you're just in random matchmaking, it will be hard to coordinate this.
People think you have to shoot them or swing on them, but you can actually just run straight through them. You don't have to waste the time to go through the animation of a swing. You can just literally run right through them.
Stagger Opportunities
If you do enough damage to him in time, you can actually stagger him and then go in for a crit. However, it's extremely hard and needs to be timed perfectly. It also requires all three players to be damaging him at once.
Madness Mechanic
Understanding the Madness Bar
You will see this bar begin to creep up, and there's a mechanic once you get the boss halfway through the fight that will trigger an instant death if you aren't prepared for it.
That bar is actually a madness debuff, and once it's filled up all the way, your character will literally go mad, take about half of its health bar away, and leave you stunned for enough time for the boss to finish you off.
Golden Particle Management
You may notice that there are these glowing gold particles along the map, along the floor, as you're doing the fight. Every time you pick up one of these golden particles, it will actually lower that debuff and take it away.
There's going to be an entire phase of the boss fight where you have to pick these up in order to complete it and move on.
Reign of Terror Phase
About halfway after the fight starts, you're going to see him go into this reign of terror, and the entire floor will turn yellow.
At this point, you have to stop everything you're doing and pick up these yellow particles because if you don't and that madness bar fills, you will take massive damage and most likely go down from the follow-up attacks.
Additional Combat Elements
The boss will also begin to spawn these turrets, which are very hard to dodge. Most of this fight has to do with just dodging attacks.
Once any of his major attacks are over, it is a great time to go in and deal damage, but just remember to stay on the move, as there are going to be all these different hexes that appear on the ground, and the boss will teleport around dealing damage.
Positioning and Teamwork
Make sure not to stack up too much because if you do and he casts that hex spell, it will be ineffective. It's literally impossible to roll out of because the radius of one spell will start to creep into the radius of your teammates, and it actually makes the spell impossible to get out of.
You want to make sure you're always at least far enough away so that doesn't happen.
Having two people get up close while one person has a bow from far away actually helps to keep the boss distracted just enough so that they can deal damage as well. If you're using a ghost summon, this provides additional distraction.
Once the mechanics are understood and you're prepared to dodge most of the enemy's attacks, it's actually quite an easy fight. The key is having proper equipment and teammates who know what they're doing.
Running Revenant definitely helps a little bit to create an extra distraction for the boss, but it's definitely not necessary. The fight essentially becomes a matter of rinsing and repeating the dodging and damage output in order to get the boss done.
