How to Unlock the Drying Rack

Unlocking the Drying Rack requires the rescue of the Hunter NPC from within an Ancient Fault. Once the Hunter has been freed and escorted back to any base shelter—be it a humble Hut or a communal structure—the crafting recipe for the Drying Rack becomes immediately available upon conversing with the Hunter.

How to Make the Drying Rack

Crafting the Drying Rack demands ten Logs and six Strings, which must be collected and placed in the survivor’s inventory. When these materials are secured, open the crafting interface, select the Drying Rack, and initiate construction.

The station can be placed outdoors against any wall or incorporated into a dedicated crafting area, offering flexibility in base layout design.

What the Drying Rack Does

Once constructed, the Drying Rack offers preservation recipes such as Dried Purple Berries and Dried Fur. To produce Dried Fur, combine one unit of Animal Fur with three Salts.

The crafting process takes about one minute per batch and always makes Dried Fur, which is an integral part of creating special armor and adding finishing touches.

Why You Should Make the Drying Rack

The Drying Rack is an essential tool for making advanced gear, especially the Scout Armor, which needs a lot of dried fur to be put together.

By keeping the drying cycle going all the time, survivors can make sure they always have materials for both combat-ready gear and decorative items like the Fur Rug, which makes any camp feel cozy.
