Games by Koshai on Feb 02, 2011
Hello all. I hope you all doing a great time here and there and in NoobFeed. It’s time for yet another edition of Gaming Gadgets digest where I show you some of the nifty and eye popping gadgets available in the market. Since Craig (fishdalf) did the December edition (The Christmas special) and I was on a self imposed holiday (just trying to find an excuse for not writing and reading blogs) in January. So let’s cut this chit chat and get on to the business. So here you go.
1. Samsung Galaxy tab

I had to put this in this edition. The reason is that recently Sony has announced that it will going to release some PS1 titles for the Android. So expect good game titles from Sony (Final Fantasy series, Gran Turismo 1 and 2 and so on). Of course, the Galaxy Tab has enough juice to run a PS1 game properly. Since it will not be fun to play these on your Android phones (I know will not enjoy at all due to control issues so it is better to get something that has bigger screen. Currently this nifty device is priced around $600 but expect this price tag to drop faster than Apple iPad.
2. Chameleon X1

The name above shows its justification. At first you would think it’s a wireless mouse, but hell no. It also boasts a game pad when you turn it over. That’s not all, the controller acts a PC remote so this device may come in handy when you change audio and video tracks and controlling the media center PCs. Priced at $60, you can get this handy device from www.shogunbros.com.
3. The Cockpit Flight Simulator

Two things you need to check yourself before you buy this. First, do love flight simulators? Second, do you want to be a pilot? Third, are you filthy rich? If all three factors apply to you then this item is for you. It has got the same control mechanism that are found inside a real airplane. It has got yoke, throttle control and yaw control. The seat diatance from the control can be adjusted and it has got surround sound system attached beneath the seat for realistic flight sound experiences. It also got navigation and radio control options. The whole set up is equipped with Dell XPS Studio desktop with Windows 7 and Microsoft Flight Simulator X Gold Edition. It also got 28” monitor for the main view and a second 20” monitor for the instrument panel view. As I said before, you need to be a filthy rich since this whole set up is priced around $7000 and is available at Hammacher Schlemmer.
4. Razer Scarab Precision 2.0

What’s the point of having the best mouse in the world, if you use your mouse in an awful surface? If you are a serious gamer and you want to have the optimum control in your gaming then get this. Yes it is a mouse pad but its not just ordinary mouse pad. The pad boasts Fractal 2.0 textured surface for greater tracking precision and improved rubber base for stability. It also got a carrying case for you to take it out if you are mobile. Avalaible at Razer store at $39.99, this is a good buy.
5. USB Classic Joystick

This device is for those retro gamers who miss the glory Atari days. Although it is practically hard to find a Atari 2600 (luckily I still have it functional, although I have to use a Genesis control to play), you can use this on your PC. It is not hard to get 2600 emulators (eg. Stella) and ROMs in your PC. It is easy to use and can be plugged in your PC through USB. It is sold like hot cake so currently it is out of stock, however, you can keep it as part of wishlist and when it gets available, you can get it for $24.99-$39.99.
6. LevelUp Rockband Ottoman

This is by far the most useful buy among the list. I am sure that most people who have their Rock band kits on their possession, storing them can be a major headache. I also have my Rockband kits but those are stored in rather abrupt way. So LevelUp brought up a solution for this and you can see directly in the picture. It’s also easy to to put them and carry them to your friend’s house to keep the party going. The Skull and Snakes version is being sold for $179.00 while the Back in Black version is sold for $89.99.
7. Sega Mega Drive Ultimate

Another great buy for retro gamers. This is the portable version of the famous Genesis console (Mega Drive in Europe and Asia). It has got SD card slot built in with 20 Sega Mega Drive games pre-loaded. For a 34.99 pound price, it can be a good buy especially for retro lovers.
8. Razer Ferox

Razer for the first time unveiled its own pair of speakers. With a $ 59.99 price tag, these tiny looking speakers do pack a punch with 360 degrees omni directional sound for all round clarity, expanded bass resonance chamber for powerful bass and optimized digital amplification. Due to its small size, it can be carried anywhere and has got a carrying case with it. Great buy for gamers.
9. Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Go Pro

Laptop sounds are never meant to have great quality. Even laptop users have a serious desire to have more in the sound. Creative has its solution. X-Fi Go Pro us a USB driven sound card which supports 3D surround for headphones, THX TruStudio Pro and SoundBlaster technology for rich sound, VoiceFX technology for online conversations and EAX Advanced HD 5.0 for ambient surround sound in games. You get all these for just $39.99.

I will end up this section with this stunning card from NVidia. Newly released this card is currently the fastest GPU so far in the market and it is also 20% cooler and more efficient compared to other NVidia GTX products. It has got 1.5 GB GDDR5 memory and it supports PCI Express 2.0. The best part is that if you buy the EVGA brand of this card, EVGA will offer you a lifetime warranty. However, the price is still steep: $499.99 from Amazon.
So that’s all for now. I will come back next month with ten more Gaming Gadgets for you. In the mean time let me work on yet another BTTP article requested by Ron.
