GRIME II Guide | Where To Get More Item Molds

Here’s a guide on where to get more item molds in GRIME II.

In GRIME II, item Molds work differently from regular Molds. They don't cost Paint to use, and instead of a cooldown tied to resources, they run on limited uses that reset every time you rest at a Surrogate. Finding duplicates of the same Item Mold levels it up, which increases both its power and the number of charges you get per rest.

The more Item Molds you have equipped, the more tools you bring into each fight — damage boosts, buffs, and special attacks that you simply can't pull off any other way. You equip them the same way you equip regular Molds, through the Surrogates.

Two Ways to Find Item Molds

Exploration

The first way is through exploration. Item Molds are hidden all over the maps, usually tucked behind secret rooms that require abilities like Dash, Grasp, or Wall Climb to reach — sometimes a combination of all three. The more complex a jumping puzzle looks, the more likely it is hiding something worth finding. It's worth pushing through every corner of each region rather than sticking to the main path.

Note that a number of Item Molds are locked behind areas you can't access until you unlock the Wall Climb traversal skill, so some secrets will have to wait until later in the game.

Buying From Merchants

The second way is by purchasing them from Breathsmiths using Aurum. The first sellers you'll have access to are The Sibs, located in Manzil's House. On your way to Kankan, you'll also run into a traveling merchant along the route who carries Item Molds as well.

Once you reach Kankan, head to the uppermost level on the route to the Palace and look for Traveler Et. He sells two Item Molds worth picking up — Trigger Bomb and Celebration Bell, both of which open up new options in combat.

Merchant Availability Changes Over Time

Some merchants become temporarily unavailable as the story moves forward, so don't assume a vendor will always be there when you go back. When you return to Manzil's House after finishing the Kankan quest — the one where you need to find Yr'Got the Breathsmith and gain access to Kankan — Manzil and his group will be back at the lair. After Manzil sends you on the next mission to track down parts for a weapon to hunt Goel, The Sibs become available again and their stock expands with more Item Molds than before.

What The Sibs Sell

The Sibs carry five Item Molds that are worth knowing about.

Defensive Sigil cuts down the damage you take for a short window, useful when you know a big hit is coming. Dried Alveoli is limited in how often you can use it, but it instantly refills your Force to full, which opens up a burst of damage right when you need it. Sharpening Weave gives all your weapon attacks a temporary damage boost and works well going into boss fights. Knockback Wave pushes enemies, projectiles, and objects away from you, and in certain boss fights it's strong enough to completely neutralize what would otherwise be a difficult encounter. Priming Spear marks enemies so that killing them restores extra Breath, which helps you recover health more often and cuts down on unnecessary trips back to a Surrogate.

How to Get the Most Out of Item Molds

Don't rely on just one type of attack. Mixing regular Molds, Item Molds, and weapon attacks together is what makes combat in GRIME II click. Sticking to only one approach will hold you back, especially as enemies get harder. Use Item Molds as the extra layer that fills in the gaps your weapons and Molds can't cover on their own.
