Intel Arc Battlemage Lineup Overview
The Intel Arc Battlemage line has already turned out to be more powerful than expected. The Arc B580 is a great graphics card at its official MSRP. It has 12GB of VRAM and good speed at a very reasonable price.
The B580 remains an easy choice for anyone looking for more video memory on a tight budget. But a lot of gamers have been waiting for something much more powerful, and that's where the Arc B770 is useful.
Power and Platform Details
New data shows that the Arc B770 will be a 300W GPU, a huge jump from the B580's 190W power rate. This big rise makes it very likely that performance has also greatly improved.
Intel's actions have effectively confirmed that this GPU exists, and more news reports have backed up the idea that the B770 is designed to operate at a much higher speed.
Core Count and Architecture Insights
At first, rumors suggested the Arc B770 would feature 32XE cores, but more recent leaks indicate that isn't the case. Based on this information, the GPU will likely have 28XE cores, but more cores may be added if the designers decide to add them.
The 28-core configuration is based on the idea that one render slice could be assigned to a media engine. This would lower the maximum number of usable compute cores, unless the full die size turns out to be larger than expected.
Expected Specifications
Arc B770 should be built on the same 5nm node as the B580, provided the 28XE core design is correct. The GPU would have 3,584 shaders with 28XE cores.
Given the high 300W TDP, a very aggressive base and boost TDP are expected, with base speeds likely over 3 GHz and boost speeds possibly exceeding 3.1 GHz. Better silicon quality has been observed in the latest Battlemage chips compared to older ones, further supporting these ideas.
It's also believed that the cache capacity will go up. Estimates suggest there will be 28 MB of cache. In terms of memory, many people say the Arc B770 has 16GB of VRAM and a 256-bit memory bus.
Memory speeds will likely be around 19 Gbits, but they could reach 21 Gbits. At least, this setup would give about 608 GB/s of memory bandwidth, which puts it well within the range of competing with top-level GPUs.
Market Positioning and Performance Expectations
Architectural scaling and other basic specs show that the Arc B770 should be about 60% faster than the Arc B580. In terms of actual games, that would put it between the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5070.
We won't know how well it performs in the real world until it comes out, but it should be very close to the RTX 5070's performance. This is because clock scaling and driver stability are still unknown factors.
Notably, the Arc B770 is likely to have 16GB of VRAM, while other GPUs in this performance range typically have only 12GB. This makes it a very good choice for speed and memory capacity, especially for newer games that need more VRAM.

Pricing and Value Proposition
The Arc B770 could be very interesting at its price. Right now, people think it will be about $400 or a little more. At that level, it would outperform GPUs like the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and hurt rivals by selling at a lower price.
