In Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, you earn Gold Bricks after every mission. You use these to buy new skills. These skills work for every character, not just Batman.

They are split into combat and exploration lists. You should play the story until the start of Chapter 2 to unlock the best abilities. You can pick any skill you want. You do not need to follow a set path.

Combat and Health Skills

The Big Hearted skill is best if you play on Dark Knight difficulty. Every focus takedown gives you a full heal. You also get a heal after beating big enemies. It is not needed on easier modes where you have infinite lives in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.

Extra Focus gives you more focus bars for special moves. It is even better when you use it with Big Hearted.

You can get a third bar after Chapter 4. You must unlock the Glide Takedown move. It lets you start a fight or take down an enemy from the air. You can get this at the start of Chapter 2.

Exploration and Collection Skills

The Hyper Combo skill helps you get more Studs. It increases your score multiplier from two to three. You can get another level of this after Chapter 4 to reach a four times multiplier.

Use Scan the Scene if you like stealth in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. It highlights enemies and objects from far away. This helps a lot in large areas.

If you want 100 percent completion, get Collectible Detective. A green magnifying glass pops up when you are near a hidden item. It is very helpful when you replay levels to find missing things.
