Pokémon Sun and Moon Legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beast Guide

Pokémon Sun and Moon has arrived and that means a brand new set of Legendary Pokémon  and Ultra Beasts to capture. Aside from the story required Solgaleo and Lunala the rarest Pokémon include Magearna, Zygarde, the guardians Tapu Koko, Tapu Lel, Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Fini. The Ultra Beasts include Nihelogo, Phermosa, Buzzwole, Xurkitree, Celesteela, Kartana, and Guzzlord.

Solgaleo and Lunala

Both of these legendary Pokémon are story progression Pokémon. Once you become Champion simply head to the Alter of the Sunne or Alter of the Moone, depending on your version of the game. The portal is accessible at night in Pokémon Sun and morning in Pokemon Moon. Enter the portal there. Once there you'll engage Cosmog, the pre-evolution of Solgaleo and Lunala.

The Guardian Pokémon

To challenge guardian deities, Tapu Koko (Melemele Island), Tapu Lele (Akala Island), Tapu Bulu (Ula'ula Island) and Tapu Fini (Poni Island), you'll have to be the champion of Alola and touch statues in their respective ruins.

Tapu Lele: Ruins of Life - Machamp Poké Ride required

Tapu Bulu: Ruins of Abundance - Head into the Haina Desert, following this pattern: up, right, up, right, left, down and up

Tapu Fini: Ruins of Hope Machamp Poké Ride required

Ultra Beasts

After beating the main game the International Police will come and give you 10 Ultra Beast balls and the locations. These Pokéballs are used to capture the creatures and must be captured in order. Here's what you can expect from each beast.

UB-01 Symbiont/Nihelego: Poison/Rock type found at Vela Mountain or Diglett Cave.

UB-02 Beauty/Phermosa Pokémon Moon: Bug/Fighting type in Verdant Cave.

UB-02 Absorption/Buzzwole Pokémon Sun: Bug/Fighting type in Verdant Cave.

UB-03 Lighting/Xurkitree: Electric type at Memorial Hill and Lush Jungle.

UB-04 Blaster/Celesteela Pokémon Moon: Steel/Flying type at Haina Desert and Malie Garden.

UB-04 Kartana Pokémon Sun: Steel/Grass type at Haina Desert and Malie Garden.

UB-05 Glutton/Guzzlord: Dark/Dragon in Resolution Cave.

Necrozma

Once you complete the Ultra Beast questline you'll be task with capturing Necrozma. Located in Ten Carat Hill at the Farthest Hollow, simply run around the tall grass until it appears.

Beast Balls don't work on Necroma and you can use repel to avoid other Pokémon in the area.

Zygarde

As you play through Pokémon Sun and Moon you'll be given the task of collecting Z-Cells and Z-Cores by Dexio and Sina. Zygarde has three forms:

10% - 10 Z-Cells
50% - 50 Z-Cells
100% - 100 Z-Cells

Z-Cores teach Zygarde new moves.

Magearna

This Pokémon will become available on Pokémon.com on December 5th for everyone who completed the main story. Simply scan and download the QR code.

Pokémon Sun and Moon is now available for 3DS.
