In Pokémon Legends: Z-A, you can unlock and use Mega Evolutions to transform specific Pokémon into stronger temporary forms during battles. This transformation enhances their overall stats, allowing you to gain an edge over opponents.

Unlocking Mega Evolutions
You gain access to Mega Evolutions as part of your story progression in Main Mission 10: The Secrets of Mega Evolution. During this mission, you receive the Mega Ring, and the game introduces you to the mechanics of Mega Evolution through a tutorial.
Once this mission is completed, the feature becomes permanently available for use.
How to Use Mega Evolutions
To activate a Mega Evolution, press the right stick when the purple bubble displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen is completely filled. This bubble represents your Mega Energy charge.
You can build up the charge by attacking regular Pokémon—each successful hit adds to the meter. When battling Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon, they drop small bubbles that also increase your charge more quickly.
When you activate a Mega Evolution, the purple meter begins to deplete over time. After roughly one minute, the transformation ends, and your Pokémon returns to its normal state.

However, you can temporarily stop the timer by switching to another Pokémon in your party. This strategy allows you to extend your total Mega Evolution usage within a battle.
You can also perform multiple Mega Evolutions in the same fight—initiate one at the start, and after it ends, build up another charge to Mega Evolve a different Pokémon.
Pokémon That Can Mega Evolve
Mega Evolution is limited to specific Pokémon that have reached their final evolution stage. To enable it, you must also provide the Pokémon with the corresponding Mega Stone that matches its species.
Without the correct stone, the Pokémon cannot Mega Evolve, even if it meets the other requirements.
